“SMEs go LifeSciences” seminar and match making event for researchers and SMEs to take place in Riga, Latvia, on March 4th, 2005
The Department of Higher Education and Science at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia and the Latvian Technological Center are organising a seminar and match making event on March 4th, 2005 at the hotel Gutenbergs in Riga.
The aim is to foster the cooperation between Latvian and European research organisations and SMEs in the area of Life Sciences, genomics and biotechnology for health and to establish business contacts and partnership for the successful participation in EU FP6 funded projects. Read more >

National Training Session on important FP6 issues to take place in Oeiras, Portugal, on March 11th, 2005
On March 11th, 2005 a national Training Session for Portuguese SMEs and Researchers in the fields of Life Sciences and Food Quality and Safety will be held in Oeiras, Portugal. Important issues on the 6th EU-Framework Programme (FP6) such as EU Calls in 2005/2006, Financial aspects and Consortium Agreement will be dealt with. Lyon Life Science Discovery Day on April 11th, 2005
"SMEs go LifeSciences" joins forces with the Innovation Relay Centre Network for the "Lyon Life Science Discovery Day".
Two key European networks – "SMEs go LifeSciences" and the “Innovation Relay Centre Network” join forces to bring Life Science companies and researchers what they need: the right collaboration partners at the right time!
The “Innovation Relay Centre SOFRAA” (West Switzerland and France Rhone-Alpes Auvergne) is organising this “Life Science Technology Transfer & European Project Partner Search Day” with the support of “The Lyon Bio Advisor Local Network” and the support of the “IRC Biotechnology Thematic Group” and the “IRC Network”. The World Life Sciences Forum BioVision 2005 presents The Biobusiness Research Forum (BRF) between 12th and 13th of April in Lyon, France
The World Life Sciences Forum BioVision and BioCube will take place in Lyon, France, from 12th –13th April, 2005 and will bring together leaders of Science, Society and Industry to discuss and debate social, environmental and economic issues impacting the Life Sciences. Several events will be organised to help SMEs and Academics find best R&D partners.
“SMEs go LifeSciences” is organising a workshop entitled “Tips and challenges for a successful participation in EU Framework Programme 6 (FP6)”. The main purpose of this event is the training of potential proposers, particularly SMEs, on several key issues regarding funding and proposals in FP6 projects in the Life Sciences area. Well received "SMEs go LifeSciences" presentation at the first Biotechnology Conference on the current state of the biotech development in Budapest, Hungary, on January 11th , 2005
On January 11th, 2005 the Hungarian Biotechnology Association and the Hungarian Investment and Trade Development Agency organised the first biotechnology conference on the current state of the biotech development in Budapest, Hungary.
Representatives of the Industry and the Hungarian Government presented several new measures aimed at supporting research and investment in Life Sciences. Especially, Minister János Kóka, Minister of Economic Affairs and transport, explained his strategy for the support of knowledge-intensive enterprises. Minister Kóka plans to put biotechnology on the government’s top five priority sectors. This would result in substantial funding for the biotech companies

Successful "SMEs go LifeSciences" transnational training, at the occasion of the Congress of the Spanish Proteomics Society, in Córdoba on February 17th, 2005
“SMEs go LifeSciences” organised a transnational training session for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) and researchers within the framework of the first “Congress of the Spanish Proteomics Society” in Córdoba on February 17th, 2005. Among the participants were several potential EU research project proposers, who were seeking for up to date information about funding opportunities in Life Sciences projects within the Sixth EU Framework Programme (FP6), about how to successfully prepare a project proposal and about legal as well as financial issues in FP6.” Read more >

SMEs go LifeSciences” database is currently providing more than 400 European company and researcher profiles
“SMEs go LifeSciences” database is currently providing more than 400 company and researcher profiles from all over Europe in the areas of Life Sciences, with more than 240 SME profiles.
In respect of the Fourth Life Sciences Call in FP6 by the European Commission, to come in Summer 2005, the time is more than suitable to project an international innovation. The European Commission has set aside a remarkable budget for funding SME research project participation. Read more >

Currently open Calls in Life Sciences related areas of Thematic Priority 2 (TP2) and Thematic Priority 3 (TP3)
In the Thematic Priority 1 (TP1) “Life sciences, genomics and biotechnology for health” there is currently no open call. Nevertheless, currently open calls in Life sciences related areas can be found in TP2 “Information society technologies” and
TP3 “ Nanotechnologies and nano-sciences, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices.
