The research symposium "Bridging innovation translation in pediatric oncology" focussing on recent progress in pediatric oncology with a particular consideration for clinically relevant advances is organised by the St. Anna Kinderkrebsforschung and the St. Anna Kinderspital in association with the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Society for paediatric oncology and haematology to mark the 20th anniversary of the Children's Cancer Research Institute.

The Bridge08 symposium is preceded by the

72nd Meeting of the German Society of Paediatric Oncolgy and Haematology
(Gesellschaft für Pädiatrische Onkologie und Hämatologie – GPOH; http://www.kinderkrebsinfo.de), which will take place at the "Aula der Wissenschaften" of the Austrian Academy of Sciences on November 20, 2008.

The 72nd biannual meeting of the GPOH will keep you updated on the status of ongoing clinical trials and accompanying research in the German speaking world.

Sessions will include:
 - Therapeutic Promise of receptor tyrosine kinases
 - Pathogenic and therapeutic potential of small RNAs
 - Oncogenic potential and therapeutic promise of mesenchymal stem cells
 - Aetiology of childhood cancer and its therapeutic implications
 - Translation of high-throughput data into treatment
 - Cancer models: tools and paradigms
 - The past and future of stem cell therapy
 - Success story leukemia treatment

You are invited to register for both meetings separately or as a package.

registration will be open from April 1, 2008
registration for the conference will be 215 € (GPOH-Members: 195 €) and include admission to the conference, abstract book, conference reception. Conference participants are requested to make their own travel and lodging arrangements.

late registration fee for the conference will be 245 € (GPOH-Members: 215 €) and include admission to the conference, abstract book, conference reception. Conference participants are requested to make their own travel and lodging arrangements.

abstract submission deadline July 31, 2008
Approximately 20 abstracts will be selected for oral presentation during conference sessions. The others will be considered for presentation during a poster session.

abstract decision August 31, 2008
A scientific committee will select up to 20 outstanding abstract submissions for oral presentation during the conference.
