The European Forum Alpbach and the Vienna School of Clinical Research present the workshop Health Care & Social System, Summer School in Alpbach from 14 – 21 August 2008

The primary objectives of the course are:

• Initiate an interdisciplinary knowledge exchange related to the basic principles
and concepts of “Health Care & Social System”
• Provide an overview of possible structures of health care systems
• Provide an overview of influencing factors and aspects of health care reform
• Provide an understanding of the scientific and other tools and methods of health
care decision making
• Provide an understanding of roles and responsibilities and how to assume them
effectively
• Provide skills and knowledge to become a (pro-)active player in health care
decision-making to initiate change and reform
• Contribute to the formation of an international and interdisciplinary network

25 candidates will be selected from applications received for this workshop.

The following pre-requisites should be met by applicants:
• young experts involved in processes of health care decision making at the
political, administrative, financial, legal, clinical or managerial level
• University degree in a relevant field, medical students to graduate shortly or
corresponding professional experience
• fluency in English
